Q&A's
What inspired you to pursue a career in the automation industry, and how did you get started in this field?
My parents have a photo of 2 year old me wearing my dads safety boots and I would usually be found taking something apart just to put back together again – maybe they knew what role I would fall into before actually starting nursery?
After studying Engineering and Product Design at school, I knew it was the career for me. I've always been pretty organised and prepared so when I discovered the Project Control Apprenticeship run by NETA, it seemed the perfect mix for me and I’ve never looked back.
What do you enjoy most about working at ITS, and what sets you apart from other automation businesses in the industry?
For me, I enjoy the variety of the role most – no two days are the same. Working across the vertical markets as SLA Project Manager means one day I can be working on a Pharmaceutical project and the next a chemical site, although the industries are very different the solution to the customers problem can often be similar enabling our skills to be transferred meaning we can always find a fix.
I think our employees and the relationships we establish set us apart from other automation businesses in the industry. We like to remain close with our customers to help them find the solutions and improvements they ultimately need.
What do you like to do outside of work to unwind and recharge, and how do you balance your personal and professional life?
I balance my personal and professional life by spending time with family and friends – cliché I know, but it's true! Outside of work, I like to travel and explore new places. I spend a lot of my weekends visiting different towns and cities across the UK often ending up at an obscure football match or two with a hot chocolate in hand.
